About

In 2005, Marybeth found herself settling into the vibrant city of Toronto. Little did she know that this move would unearth her deep-seated passion for an ancient art form called verre églomisé. This intricate craft involved delicately applying genuine gold leaf, as well as silver and copper, to create mesmerizing designs that exuded opulence and exclusivity.

The roots of Marybeth's artistic influence could be traced back to her childhood in the Philippines, where she was captivated by the ornate gilded altars and awe-inspiring interiors of the country's Spanish colonial churches and cathedrals. These visits while attending Sunday mass left an indelible mark on her, igniting a creative spark that would shape her future.

As an accomplished interior designer, Marybeth not only mastered the traditional techniques of verre églomisé but also infused her creations with modern touches such as patination, inlay mother of pearl, and other contemporary finishes. Her dedication to her craft culminated in a landmark project - designing the Shrine of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus in Manila, Philippines - a testament to her exceptional skill and creativity.

Beyond her remarkable work, Marybeth's expertise earned her roles as an instructor under The Society of Gilders and memberships in design organizations such as the American Society of Interior Designers New York-Metro and the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario.

Today, Marybeth's exceptional pieces are not just confined within borders; they are being exhibited and sought after worldwide, leaving an indelible mark in the world of luxury interior design. Her narrative exemplifies how passion, heritage, and dedication can intertwine to create a timeless and captivating legacy in the realm of art and design.

My focus is to bring a modern and functional take to verre églomisé by combining more fluid nature motifs that represent the temporal essence of life with geometric patterns and textures using a variety of traditional methods, including gilding, etching, and reverse painting. My work is a salute to artisans of the past who inspired me and whose work cannot be replicated by modern technology and to carry their methods into the present to create a legacy of its own.
